Event Details

Two unsigned bands.  One large venue.  One big stage.  Alongside one big band.

We are inviting you to the Grand Finale of a new music reality show at London’s Clapham Grand.  After a night showcasing the best in unsigned music, the winner of “The Next Big Thing 2008” will be revealed.

Both unsigned bands will have journeyed across the UK, completing various challenges in locations spanning the country, ultimately arriving at Clapham Grand where we find out who’s rocked and who’s cocked…up.

Meet Hooker, a brash 3-piece punk rock band from Manchester.  Lead guitarist Zoe McVeigh has been hailed as one of the finest female voices in the city.  To date, they have supported the likes of Le Tigre, Interpol and The Gossip.

Cardiff’s Armies of You, are a grungy indie pop band, voted XFM’s Unsigned Band of the Month.  Jason Caffelle said they “blend catchy choruses, organic vocals and a concrete rhythm section together to create an Indie / Pop / Rock sound that will transform any audience into a dance party”.  And he writes for Indie In-Tune Magazine no less.

Special Guests Join us on the night to re-live both bands’ highs and lows through a series of VTs, listen to what the judges (like 80’s icon Toyah Willcox, among others) have to say about the hopefuls, or make up your own mind as both bands play to the packed-out Grand.  But by the end of the night, only one can be crowned “The Next Big Thing”.

The Laurel Collective

"are a motly 6 piece who marry the soulful vocals of Martin Sakutu with some percussion driven, rhythmic indie, wistful melodies and co-singer Bob Tollast's skewed, darkly humorous lyrics. Throw in some dancehall rhythms' driving bass and a love of vintage synths and you get a formula that's won them a deal with Double Six Records, an offshoot of Domino, who has released the single Vuitton Blues to worldwide hysteria, shortly followed by the earth shattering mini album, "Feelgood hits of a nuclear winter" out NOW.
